Our pet Sparky had an emergency where he swallowed a foreign object that got stuck in his small intestine. Dr. Samah’s diagnosis was absolutely spot on, allowing us to detect and resolve the issue right on time. Thank you so much to Dr. Abdel Wahab and Dr. Samah for taking good care, and to Nimra for keeping us updated every step of the way while he was hospitalized. Excellent clinic and a fantastic team!Posted on Google sukain dsouzaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The right person in the right place. I would like to thank Nimra for her outstanding support. When my preferred delivery option was unavailable, she quickly offered an alternative solution and handled everything efficiently. She was knowledgeable, responsive, and sent the payment link promptly. She also coordinated with the external delivery driver and kept me updated throughout every step of the process. Most importantly, she saved me a lot of time and effort, especially since I had completely run out of food for my cat. Excellent customer service and a smooth experience from start to finish. What Is DHPP?
The Dog 4-in-1 Vaccine, Explained
DHPP — sometimes labelled DAPP, DA2PP or DHPPI — is a single combination vaccine covering four diseases.
Canine Distemper
Infectious Hepatitis
Canine Parvovirus
Canine Parainfluenza
Diseases Covered
What Each Disease Can Do to Your Dog
D
Canine Distemper
Highly contagious, affecting the respiratory, digestive and nervous systems. Can be fatal, especially in puppies.
- Fever
- Eye/nasal discharge
- Coughing
- Vomiting & diarrhoea
- Muscle twitching
- Seizures
H
Infectious Canine Hepatitis
Caused by canine adenovirus type 1; can affect the liver, kidneys, blood vessels and eyes.
- Fever
- Vomiting
- Abdominal discomfort
- Lethargy
- Eye inflammation
- Jaundice
P
Canine Parvovirus
Serious and highly contagious — especially dangerous for young or incompletely vaccinated puppies.
- Severe vomiting
- Bloody diarrhoea
- Dehydration
- Extreme weakness
- Abdominal pain
- Fever or low temp
P
Canine Parainfluenza
A contagious respiratory virus linked to canine infectious respiratory disease complex (kennel cough).
- Dry, persistent cough
- Sneezing
- Nasal discharge
- Mild fever
- Reduced energy
Puppy Vaccination
Why DHPP Matters So Much for Puppies?
Puppies are especially vulnerable — maternal antibodies fade gradually and can interfere with early vaccination, which is why a series (not a single shot) is needed.
- First Vaccination: approximately 6–8 weeks of age
- Additional Doses: every 2–4 weeks during the primary series
- Final Primary Dose: at 16 weeks or older (up to ~20 wks if high-risk)
- Follow-Up Booster: around six months to one year, per vet advice
- Adult Boosters: based on vaccine guidance and medical history
General guidance only — exact timing depends on the vaccine product, local disease risk and your puppy’s health.

Ongoing protection matters too — not just for puppies.
When to Delay
When Should the DHPP Vaccine Be Delayed?
Tell our team before your appointment if your dog has any of the following:
- Vomiting or diarrhoea
- Fever
- Coughing or nasal discharge
- Reduced appetite
- Unusual tiredness
- Recent illness or surgery
- History of vaccine reactions

DHPP vs. Rabies & Kennel Cough
💉 DHPP vs. Rabies Vaccine
DHPP does not protect against rabies. Your dog may need a separate rabies vaccine based on local regulations, travel requirements and veterinary advice. We can review both together.
🤧 DHPP vs. Kennel Cough Vaccine
DHPP’s parainfluenza component doesn’t fully cover kennel cough. Dogs at boarding, daycare, grooming or dog parks may benefit from an additional kennel cough vaccine, including Bordetella protection.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
❓ What does DHPP stand for?
Canine distemper, infectious canine hepatitis, canine parvovirus and canine parainfluenza.
❓ Is DHPP the same as the 4-in-1 vaccine?
Yes, it’s commonly called the 4-in-1 dog vaccine. Formulations vary by product, so your vet will confirm exact contents.
❓ At what age should a puppy receive DHPP?
Typically starting at 6–8 weeks, with repeated doses until at least 16 weeks. Your vet determines the exact schedule.
❓ Does my puppy need more than one dose?
Yes — maternal antibodies can interfere with early vaccination, so a series is generally required.
❓ Can my puppy go outside after the first dose?
A single dose may not fully protect them yet. Ask your vet when it’s safe to socialise more widely.
❓ How often does an adult dog need a booster?
It depends on the vaccine, previous doses and vet assessment — some components protect for several years.
❓ Can DHPP and rabies be given together?
Sometimes — your vet decides based on your dog’s age, health and vaccination history.
❓ Can a sick dog receive the DHPP vaccine?
Vaccination may need to be postponed if your dog is unwell. A vet exam is recommended first.
❓ Do indoor dogs need the DHPP vaccine?
Yes — viruses can be carried indoors via footwear, objects or contact with other animals.
