Teeth & Gum Problems We Assess
Cleaning is one part of dental care. Your vet identifies whether a problem needs cleaning, further investigation, treatment or referral.
Plaque & tartar
Soft plaque and hardened deposits can contribute to gum inflammation. We assess the buildup and underlying oral health.
Gum disease
Gingivitis and periodontal disease affect gums and tooth-supporting tissues. Treatment depends on the extent of disease.
Broken or loose teeth
Fractures, wear, discoloration and tooth mobility may indicate pain or damage requiring further assessment.
Root infection
Tooth-root infection or an abscess may cause pain, swelling or discharge. Prompt examination is important.
Retained puppy teeth
Baby teeth that remain as permanent teeth emerge can contribute to crowding or an abnormal bite.
Oral abnormalities
Missing teeth, ulcers, gum growths, mouth masses and bite injuries may need imaging, sampling or specialist referral.
Complex dental disease, suspected tumors, jaw injuries or tooth-saving procedures may require referral. Your vet will explain suitable options rather than assume a cleaning alone will resolve the problem.
